I've Seriously Got a Problem With Buying Things for My Classroom

Do you have a problem spending money on things for your class? I was very spendy this week. Why does it seem that things for school are so EXPENSIVE? That is the reason why I have been putting off purchasing these beauties for the last two year.

Oh how I have pined for the Lakeshore lower case playdough stamps with matching stand. But the stamps cost $25, the stand costs $20 and the shipping is another $10 because I sadly do not have a Lakeshore anywhere near my house. But this week I bit the bullet because Lakeshore was having a buy 1 get 1 50% off sale which means I got the stand for $10. All in all I spent $44.58 on the stamps and stand, but I still think is ridiculously espensive.

That's why I created a freebie to share with you guys. I also purchased these last weekend ($20 from Amazon is a tad better.) I could have made my own with linking cubes, but all of my mine had holes in the side of them so I couldn't  add stickers or write on them with a permanent marker. If you have these Unifix letter cubes or if you decide to make your own, these cards are the perfect activity to go with them.

This set of cards is appropriate for firsties who must spell the CVC pattern words.

I hope you guys enjoy. Have a great long weekend!

  2. I've had those stampers (both upper and lower case) for about 8 years now. Aren't they the best?! However, I never broke down and bought the stand. Now you're making me wish I had. :( (I just took a couple of empty tissue boxes, turned them over and cut x's in the bottom with an exacto knife, then pushed the handle in the box. Not the greatest, but it worked well enough)

  5. I have these stampers/stands as well. They are such a great tool in my classroom. I use them with Play-doh a lot, but I also use them with Moon Sand just to mix it up a bit. I buy one bulk bag of Moon Sand (every two years) and put about an inch and a half of the sand into 5 different Rubbermaid containers (think the size of a shoe box and only 2-3 inches tall with a lid that clips closed on both sides). I never get the Moon Sand out until after 1st quarter. Then I rotate it with Play-doh off and on throughout the year. If you keep it closed up when not in use, it lasts for a LONG time. :)

  6. Thanks so much for the freebies, sweetie. I'm an aide working on my degree ... I just wrote on linking cubes the other day--and I randomly chose red V and blue C as well. :D

By the time I graduate my three kids will be out of the house ... watch out Lakeshore ... I should probably buy some stock now. :)
